## Landscape Use
Its mature size makes this palm a choice for spacious tropical landscapes, botanical collections, or large conservatories. The solitary trunk and long, feather-like leaves create a high, open canopy rather than a dense screen.
## Identification
The Madagascar palm field guide describes a solitary tree to about 25 m, with leaves arranged in three ranks and a swollen green crownshaft. It is recorded from moist forest on moderate to steep slopes, sometimes near streams, at roughly 400–800 m elevation. The mature height range is about 15–25 m (49–82 ft), so allow ample overhead room.
## Growing Conditions
Its forest habitat suggests bright filtered light and moisture that remains available through warm weather, with drainage to keep roots from standing in water. Protect young palms from harsh exposure while they establish; exact garden tolerances vary with climate and growing conditions. ## Maintenance
Water during extended dry periods and remove only dead fronds. Avoid cutting the growing crown or trimming healthy green leaves.
