The weeping form of Dypsis onilahensis is a clustering palm with long, gracefully pendulous feather leaves. Its blue-green, ringed stems and pale crownshaft make the hanging foliage especially noticeable in a spacious tropical garden.
## Form and Placement
The weeping form is distinguished from the sturdier upright, recurved-leaf form by its more strongly pendent leaves. A specialist account describes the palm as reaching about 25 ft tall with a spread around 10–15 ft or more; these dimensions belong to the general pendulous form and can vary in cultivation. See the [Palms for California account](https://www.palmpedia.net/palmsforcal/Dypsis_onilahensis) and [PACSOA’s species profile](https://www.pacsoa.org.au/wiki/index.php/Dypsis_onilahensis) for form, habitat, and general culture. Kew lists Dypsis onilahensis as a synonym of Chrysalidocarpus onilahensis.
## Siting
Give the clump room for its drooping leaves and grow in lightly shaded to sunny conditions with moist, freely draining soil. Seedlings are reported to grow slowly, so allow time for the distinctive crown to develop.
## Maintenance
Keep the central growing point protected and trim only fully dead fronds. Avoid planting where the pendulous leaves will obstruct circulation or contact hard surfaces as the crown expands.
