About Delicious Candy Coneflower

Delicious Candy is a double-flowered coneflower with glowing fuchsia-pink pompom centers held above horizontal ray petals. Its compact habit, dark stems, and long summer display make it useful where a strong pink accent is wanted. ## Size and siting Expect about 18–24 inches of height and 14–16 inches of spread in USDA Zones 4–9. It grows in full sun or part shade and accepts a range of well-drained garden soils. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=ECHDC) describes its dark-green foliage, flowering season, and mature size. ## Seasonal interest The flowers begin early among coneflowers and remain fresh well into the season. Plant it in a border, patio container, cottage-style bed, or prairie planting; it also suits cutting and mass planting. The flowers attract butterflies and bees, and the dried seed heads provide winter food for finches and other birds. ## Maintenance Water regularly while the plant establishes, then adjust to rainfall; Walters Gardens rates its water needs from low to average and describes established plants as drought tolerant. Leaving some spent flowers into fall preserves seed for birds and gives the bed winter structure.
