About FRESCO™ Apricot Coneflower

Echinacea FRESCO™ ‘Apricot’ is a tall, narrow coneflower with large apricot, zinnia-like flowers. Terra Nova lists the selection for zones 4–9, with foliage height of about 23 inches, a 20-inch spread, and flowering stems reaching 29 inches; the listed bloom period is June through October ([Terra Nova](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/echinacea-fresco-apricot/)). ## Flowers and placement Its upright shape and large blooms suit a middle or rear border, where the warm color can be seen above lower perennials. The breeder describes the flowers as long-lasting and reports light violet and coral streaks across the apricot petals. Cut-flower, pollinator, and hummingbird use are also listed. ## Growing conditions Choose a sunny position with average, well-drained soil and moderate moisture. A narrow habit makes it useful where a coneflower is wanted without a broad footprint. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and in prolonged dry periods, while allowing excess moisture to drain away. Remove spent flowers for a tidier display or leave seed heads for winter interest. Cut old stems back in late winter or early spring.
