About Moab Sunset Coneflower

‘Moab Sunset’ is a compact, upright coneflower with vivid orange double flowers and an enlarged center. The Missouri Botanical Garden lists it for zones 4–9, with a mature height of about 1–1.75 feet and a 1–1.25-foot spread; an Overdevest profile identifies the selection as PP33889 and lists a 14-inch width ([Plant Finder](https://plantfinder.mobot.org/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?gen=Echinacea&isprofile=0&taxonid=445806), [Overdevest profile](https://grownbyoverdevest.com/plant/moab-sunset-coneflower/)). ## Garden Use Its short, upright form fits the front of a sunny border, a repeated mass, or a patio container. The orange double flowers provide a strong color accent through summer and fall. Allow room for the clump to spread and for flowering stems to rise above the leaves. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering, though part shade is tolerated. Choose well-drained soil and water while the plant establishes; once established, the Missouri Botanical Garden notes tolerance of dry conditions. Avoid persistently waterlogged soil. The bright blooms are showy and suitable for cutting. ## Maintenance Moab Sunset can rebloom without deadheading. Removing faded flowers promptly can encourage continued bloom and keeps the display tidy. Leave some flower heads after bloom if you want winter structure and seed for birds.
