PRIMA™ ‘Amarillo’ is a compact coneflower with golden-yellow daisy blooms and an emerald-green cone that matures toward sunny yellow. It flowers in its first year and is listed at 10 inches tall by 14 inches wide, with blooms from June through October.
## Placement
Grow in full sun in USDA hardiness zones 4–9. The compact, mounding form suits the front of a mixed border or a container. The breeder lists flowering from June through October. See the [TERRA NOVA® cultivar profile](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/echinacea-prima-amarillo/) for the flower description, seasonal timing, and dimensions.
## Growing
Use average garden soil with good drainage. Plant the crown level with the surrounding soil; the breeder identifies planting too deeply as a common cause of losses in Echinacea. Water for establishment, then allow the soil to dry moderately between waterings and avoid prolonged waterlogging.
## Maintenance
Keep the planting open enough for airflow and check the crown after planting so it remains at soil level. During dormancy, avoid late applications of slow-release fertilizer. The [TERRA NOVA® Echinacea growing guidance](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/echinacea-prima-amarillo/) provides additional crop and watering details.
