About PRIMA® Saffron Coneflower

PRIMA™ ‘Saffron’ is a compact coneflower with vivid saffron-yellow and orange daisies above blue-toned foliage. Terra Nova lists a 12-inch foliage height, 20-inch spread, and 18-inch flower height, with bloom from June through October; see the [breeder’s cultivar profile](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/echinacea-prima-saffron/). ## Garden Use Use this dwarf selection near the front of a sunny border, in a mixed perennial bed, in a group planting, or in a container. The orange and yellow blooms provide a warm focal color through summer and into fall, and the stems are suitable for cutting. ## Growing Conditions The breeder rates it for USDA zones 4–9 and full sun. It describes average garden water and average soil, with coarse or slightly mineral soil preferred; provide good drainage and leave room for the mature spread. ## Maintenance Water regularly while establishing, then adjust to rainfall and soil drainage. Keep the crown at the soil line when planting. Remove spent flower stems for a tidier display, or leave some late-season heads in place for structure.
