About PRIMA® Spider Coneflower

PRIMA™ ‘Spider’ is a compact coneflower with narrow, strap-shaped petals that shift from salmon-rose toward magenta as the flower turns upward, set against a violet background. Terra Nova lists it for zones 4–9, at 12 inches tall by 10 inches wide with 18-inch flower stems, and flowering from June through October; see the [breeder’s cultivar profile](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/echinacea-prima-spider/). ## Garden Use Place this unusually shaped flower at a border edge or where its changing color can be seen close up. The breeder also recommends it for mixed beds, grouped plantings, containers, and cutting. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun with good drainage. Terra Nova describes average garden water and average soil, favoring coarse or slightly mineral soil. The listed hardiness range is USDA zones 4–9. ## Maintenance Water regularly while the root system establishes, then adjust watering to rainfall and drainage. Keep the crown at the soil line when planting. Remove spent stems for a neat border, or leave a few late blooms standing to extend seasonal structure.
