Echinacea purpurea ‘Kim’s Knee High’ is a compact pink coneflower selected for a shorter, more contained habit than taller purple coneflowers. In the Ohio State Secrest trial it measured 18–23 inches tall and wide, with pink single flowers that began blooming in early July and remained in flower for about six weeks.
## Garden use
Place this perennial near the front or middle of a sunny border, where its shorter stems and open flowers are easy to enjoy. It can also be used in small groupings and cutting gardens. Trial measurements vary with site and season, so leave space for a clump around 18–24 inches across rather than crowding it against neighboring plants.
## Growing conditions
Grow in full sun and well-drained soil. The cultivar is listed for USDA hardiness zones 3–8 by Proven Winners; winter performance still depends on local drainage and exposure. Water new plants while they establish, then water when the root zone begins to dry during extended hot or dry periods.
## Maintenance
Deadhead to tidy the plant and limit seed production, or leave some cones standing after bloom for wildlife and winter interest. Cut back spent stems in late winter or early spring.
