About White Swan Coneflower

White Swan is an upright herbaceous coneflower with white petals around an orange-brown central cone. It typically reaches 2–3 feet tall and about 18 inches wide, with flowers from midsummer into early fall and a preference for sun to part shade. ## Garden Use and Bloom The white daisies brighten a sunny border and pair naturally with purple-pink coneflowers or ornamental grasses. The long flowering stems work for cutting, while the mature cones can remain as winter texture and food for goldfinches. Pollinators visit the flowers during the summer bloom period. ## Siting Plant in full sun for the fullest flowering, though partial shade is suitable. Average, well-drained garden soil is appropriate; the plant tolerates dry conditions once established and is also listed for low to moderate water use. Space plants about 18 inches apart, allowing air and light around the clump. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers during the season when you want to encourage additional bloom and keep the plant tidy. Leave some seed heads standing into winter for birds, then cut back old stems in late winter or early spring.
