About Echinacea 'Ruby Giant'

Ruby Giant is an upright purple coneflower with large ruby-pink blooms, a prominent cone, and sturdy branching stems. Proven Winners lists mature plants at about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, flowering through summer and fall in full sun or part sun. ## Garden Use and Bloom The broad, nearly flat petals form a showy double row around the cone, giving this cultivar a fuller flower face than the typical drooping-petal coneflower. Use it in a mixed border, pollinator planting, or a mass where repeated blooms create a strong color block. Its long stems also suit fresh-cut arrangements, and pollinators visit the flowers. ## Siting Give Ruby Giant a sunny position and well-drained soil. The selection is listed for a wide range of soils and tolerates heat, humidity, drought, and poorer conditions once established. Leave about 2 feet between plants for mature spread and airflow. ## Maintenance Water new plantings until established, then add water during prolonged dry weather. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms, but leave some mature heads in fall for seed-eating birds and winter interest.
