SOMBRERO® Adobe Orange Coneflower

SOMBRERO® Adobe Orange is a compact, upright coneflower with bright orange flower heads and matching cones. Proven Winners identifies the cultivar as ‘Balsomador’ (USPP 26,639) and lists 18–20 inch height and spread, Zones 4a–9b, and summer bloom ([Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/echinacea/sombrero-adobe-orange-coneflower-echinacea-hybrid)); Walters Gardens describes the orange flowers, dark green foliage, and uses in borders, containers, and cut-flower displays ([Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=ECHAO)). ## In the Garden This member of the SOMBRERO® series forms a well-branched clump with flowers held above green foliage. Its saturated color works in sunny borders and mass plantings, and the flowers can be cut or dried. ## Growing Conditions Provide full sun to part sun and average water. The plant adapts to a range of soil conditions and tolerates drought after establishment. Proven Winners rates it for Zones 4a–9b and lists average, fertile, and poor soils. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers if you want to encourage additional blooms. Leave selected seed heads standing into winter to provide structure and food for birds.
