[Encephalartos munchii](https://cycadlist.org/scientific_name/330) is a compact, trunk-forming cycad from Mozambique. Its mature leaves are muted green, while new flushes can show a distinctive blue cast; the sharply pointed leaflets and blue-green cones add a strong sculptural accent ([species profile](https://succulentes.net/en/cycads/encephalartos/munchii/)).
## Garden use and siting
Plant it as a specimen in a sunny to lightly shaded position with excellent drainage. Its native habitat on Zembe Mountain includes rocky granite slopes and patches of evergreen forest. The regional pattern is a hot, wet summer followed by a cooler, drier winter, so keep the root zone moist during active growth and reduce watering in cool weather.
## Growth and care
The trunk can reach about 1 m, with fronds around 1–1.3 m long ([morphology reference](https://succulentes.net/en/cycads/encephalartos/munchii/)). Mature plants are notably difficult to transplant, so choose a permanent site early and avoid root disturbance. Its spined foliage suits a specimen planting with room for the crown to develop.
## Maintenance
Remove only dead or broken leaves with clean tools. Wear gloves when working near the stiff spines, and keep the plant clear of narrow paths.
