Create design onlineAbout Dwarf Rubber Rabbit Brush
Baby Blue is a compact, rounded rabbitbrush selection with dense silvery-blue foliage and bright yellow flowers in late summer and fall. Its mature size and dry-garden habits make it useful where a smaller native shrub can add structure and late-season color.
## Garden Use
Use it as a low mound in sunny borders, rock gardens, or water-wise plantings. Plant Select lists a mature height of 12–36 inches and a width of 24–36 inches; allow the full spread when spacing it. The plant’s botanical listing uses *Ericameria nauseosa* var. *nauseosa* and notes that Baby Blue is sometimes sold as dwarf rabbitbrush. [Plant Select](https://plantselect.org/plant/ericameria-nauseosa-var-nauseosa/) describes its compact dome, silvery-blue foliage, yellow flowers, and September–October bloom.
## Growing Conditions
Give it full sun or part sun and well-drained soil. It tolerates clay, loam, and sandy soils and needs little water after establishment. Water during its first season while roots settle in, then reduce irrigation. Its dry-to-xeric needs suit western water-wise gardens.
## Maintenance
Shear lightly in late fall or very early spring to maintain a compact mound and encourage flowering. Remove seedheads or seedlings where reseeding is unwanted. Plant Select recommends yearly shaping and notes that this selection reseeds readily.
