About Giant Buckwheat

Eriogonum giganteum, known as St. Catherine's Lace, is a robust evergreen shrub endemic to California's Channel Islands. It features a sprawling, mounded habit with striking silver-gray, woolly foliage that provides year-round interest. In late spring, massive flat-topped clusters of tiny creamy-white flowers emerge, eventually aging to a rich rust-red. This drought-tolerant plant is a pollinator magnet, attracting bees and butterflies, and is ideal for erosion control or xeric landscapes.
