Create design onlineAbout Kannah Creek Sulphur Flower
Kannah Creek is a low, mat-forming selection of sulphur flower buckwheat, valued for bright yellow blooms that age orange and foliage that turns burgundy in autumn. The selection is sold under the Kannah Creek name; Colorado Springs Utilities lists the cultivar denomination 'Psdowns' for this selection. [California Flora Nursery](https://www.calfloranursery.com/plants/eriogonum-umbellatum-var-aureum-kannah-creek/) and [Cache Valley Native Plants](https://www.cachevalleynativeplants.com/product-page/buckwheat-kannah-creek) describe the selection’s size and dry-garden use.
### Garden Use
Plant it along a sunny path, at the front of a border, over a bank, or in a rock garden where its low foliage can spread. The flower stalks rise above the mat, and the late-season foliage adds color after the main bloom.
### Growing Conditions
Use well-drained sandy or loamy soil and water sparingly once established. Sources differ slightly on mature spread: California Flora Nursery gives 2–3 feet, while CSU and Cache Valley list about 12–24 inches. The current 12–36 inch label covers those reported ranges. CSU lists USDA zones 3–8 and sun to part shade.
## Maintenance
Remove flower stalks after they stop adding interest. Avoid frequent division or transplanting, since buckwheats form a deep taproot.
