Create design onlineAbout Sunstrong™ Violet Erysimum hybrida
Sunstrong™ Violet is an upright wallflower from Danziger’s SUNSTRONG™ series, bred for large flowers and season-long color. Danziger lists an early to medium flowering time, first-year flowering without cooling, heat tolerance across the series, and a mature height of 45–60 cm with a 38–45 cm spread ([Violet profile](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/perennials_catalog/sunstrong-violet/) and [series profile](https://www.danzigeronline.com/series_perennials/sunstrong-series/)).
## Placement and season
Use the violet-purple flowers as spring and summer color in a sunny bed or container. Danziger recommends the series for pots and landscape planting. North Carolina Extension describes Erysimum hybrids as suitable for average to sandy, well-drained soil, with use in borders, rock gardens, and containers ([Extension growing notes](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/erysimum-x-hybrida/)). Leave room for an upright plant about 18–24 inches tall and 15–18 inches wide.
## Maintenance
Keep soil draining freely, particularly in pots. Remove spent flower stems when needed to tidy the display, and replace plants that become leggy after successive seasons; Erysimum hybrids are often short-lived.
