Create design onlineAbout Estrellita Little Star Firecracker Bush
Estrellita® Little Star is a compact firecracker bush with clusters of vivid reddish-orange, pink, and hot-pink flowers over bright green foliage. This patented Proven Winners selection flowers repeatedly from spring into fall, making a colorful low shrub for mixed borders, edging, patio containers, or pollinator plantings.
## Flowers and placement
The breeder lists an upright, rounded habit at about 18–24 inches tall and wide. Full sun to part sun supports flowering; give afternoon protection in especially hot climates if the foliage becomes stressed. The trumpet-shaped blooms attract pollinators, including hummingbirds ([Proven Winners ColorChoice](https://www.provenwinnerscolorchoice.com/product/estrellita-little-star-bouvardia/); [Proven Winners Direct](https://provenwinnersdirect.com/products/estrellita-little-star-firecracker-bush)).
## Soil, water, and seasons
Plant in well-drained soil; the breeder reports poor growth in alkaline conditions and tolerance of clay when drainage is suitable. Water regularly while the plant establishes, then reduce irrigation as its roots settle in; established plants tolerate drought and heat. Flowering may continue from spring to frost in warm conditions, with timing varying by climate.
## Maintenance
Deadheading is unnecessary for rebloom. Remove dead or damaged wood when needed; if shaping is desired, prune in late winter or early spring. Apply a light, label-directed flowering-shrub fertilizer in spring only when growth or flowering would benefit.
