Create design onlineAbout Silver Dollar Eucalyptus Tree
Silver dollar eucalyptus (*Eucalyptus cinerea*) is an evergreen Australian tree valued for its rounded, silver-blue juvenile leaves and aromatic foliage. It typically develops an upright form with horizontal branches and rough, reddish-brown bark ([Oregon State University](https://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/plants/eucalyptus-cinerea), [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/eucalyptus-cinerea/)).
## Garden Use
The juvenile foliage is useful in fresh or dried arrangements, while a mature tree makes a strong foliage accent in a large landscape. Published mature-size ranges vary; Oregon State reports roughly 20–50 feet tall and 20–45 feet wide. Plan for a substantial canopy and avoid tight spaces near buildings or utilities.
## Site and Climate
Plant in full sun with fast drainage; this species is best suited to dry sites and tolerates wind. Oregon State lists it as hardy to USDA Zone 8 and notes that it can recover from the ground in Zone 6 after severe dieback. In colder areas, treat that recovery as a possibility rather than a guarantee for every site.
## Maintenance
Provide room for the crown and prune selectively to develop a stable structure while young. Collect fallen leaves, bark, and seed capsules where litter would be a concern.
