About Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree

Rainbow eucalyptus (*Eucalyptus deglupta*) is a fast-growing evergreen tree known for smooth bark that sheds in strips, revealing green, blue, purple, orange, and maroon tones as it matures. It is native to humid rainforests of the Philippines, Indonesia, and New Guinea, and is suited to tropical or subtropical climates ([Singapore NParks](https://www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/2/8/2886), [Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens](https://www.pslbg.org/rainbow-eucalyptus/)). ## Garden Use This is a large specimen tree for warm, spacious landscapes. A Florida botanical garden reports 100–125 feet in the continental United States, while sources describe larger heights in native tropical habitat. The multicolored bark is strongest in tropical growing conditions and can be less vivid outside them. Tiny white flowers may appear at different times depending on location. ## Site and Climate Choose full sun and fertile soil with steady moisture. The species grows naturally in humid rainforest conditions and is sensitive to freezes; the cited botanical garden lists USDA Zones 10–11 and recommends protection from freezing temperatures. ## Maintenance Allow ample clearance for the mature trunk and canopy. Maintain moisture during establishment, protect from freezes, and keep the planting area clear of competing weeds while young.
