About Silver Queen Variegated Japanese Euonymus

Silver Queen is an upright evergreen Japanese euonymus with glossy green leaves edged in creamy white, often with a pink tint. Its patterned foliage makes it useful as a specimen, a low hedge, or a bright accent in a mixed shrub border. ## Form and Siting Oregon State University describes Silver Queen as a moderate-growing shrub reaching about 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. The Royal Horticultural Society gives a broader mature range of 1.5–2.5 meters high and 1–1.5 meters wide, so allow for a larger outline where conditions support it. Plant in full sun or partial shade and use well-drained soil. ## Seasonal Interest The evergreen variegated leaves carry the display throughout the year. Summer flowers are small and inconspicuous; pale pink fruit may follow occasionally. ## Maintenance Light pruning can keep a hedge or specimen within its allotted space. Water during establishment and remove damaged growth as needed.
