About Turkestan Burning Bush Spindle Tree

Turkestan dwarf spindle is a compact, deciduous shrub valued for its fine, narrow foliage and vivid autumn display. It suits a sunny or lightly shaded border where its pink fruit and orange seeds can be seen up close. ([Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/69797/euonymus-nanus-var-turkestanicus/details)) ## Growth and seasonal interest The small, rosemary-like leaves are dark green through the growing season and turn red to bronze in autumn. The understated brownish flowers are followed by pink, lobed fruits that split open to show orange seeds. Plants are generally described as about 0.5–1 m tall and wide; allow room for a rounded, informal outline rather than shearing it into a formal hedge. ## Siting Plant in full sun or partial shade and choose well-drained soil. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sandy soils, with both moist but well-drained and well-drained conditions. Its compact scale works well in a cottage garden, courtyard, border, or on a bank or slope. ## Maintenance ## Maintenance Use light pruning only to preserve the natural shape, and remove damaged stems as needed. Take care when handling or planting: the RHS warns that the fruit is harmful if eaten.
