About Pink Frost Joe Pye Weed

‘Pink Frost’ is a Japanese selection of Joe-Pye weed grown for cream-edged foliage and rich pink flowers. The compact, upright clump adds variegated texture before its September bloom and works well in a moist perennial border. ([Horsford Gardens and Nursery](https://horsfordnursery.com/eupatorium-fortunei-pink-frost/); [Creek Hill Nursery 2026 catalog](https://www.creekhillnursery.com/images/catalog/2026/Catalog/Creek%20Hill%20Catalog%202026.pdf)) ## Foliage and flowers The toothed leaves have green centers and pale cream margins, giving the plant interest beyond its flowering period. Pink flower clusters rise above the foliage in early fall. Published mature-size descriptions vary slightly: Horsford lists a height of 36 inches and a spread of 24–36 inches, while Creek Hill lists a height range of 34–38 inches. ## Siting Plant in full sun or partial shade and provide moist soil. The foliage makes this cultivar useful near paths, patios, or the front of a mixed perennial bed, where its variegation can be appreciated at close range. Allow for a clump roughly three feet tall and two to three feet wide. ## Maintenance ## Maintenance Keep the soil from drying for long periods, especially during establishment. Remove old stems in late winter or early spring and clear spent foliage as needed.
