Euphorbia efanthia is a compact, bushy selection with dark green leaves, reddish undersides, and red-flushed young growth. Short sprays of greenish-yellow flowers appear in spring and summer, adding a bright contrast above the foliage.
## Garden Use
Its modest scale suits a sunny or lightly shaded border edge, gravel garden, or container. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/211196/euphorbia-efanthia/details) describes a plant around 30 cm tall, with a broader published mature range of 0.1–0.5 m in both height and spread. The same profile recommends well-drained soil and notes that the plant may be grown in full sun or partial shade.
## Growing Conditions
Use a free-draining soil mix and water to establish, then avoid keeping the root zone persistently wet. The foliage is evergreen in mild conditions and may show red tones most clearly on the leaf undersides and new growth. Euphorbia sap can irritate skin and eyes and may be harmful if eaten; wear gloves when cutting and keep plant pieces away from children and pets.
## Maintenance
After flowering, cut spent shoots back at the base in late summer or autumn. Divide in spring only when needed, and protect your hands and eyes from the milky sap.
