Create design onlineAbout Florida Blue Lisianthus
Florida Blue is a compact bedding lisianthus grown for dark blue flowers and bronze foliage. Ball lists the Florida series at 8–10 inches tall by 6–8 inches wide and identifies it as especially heat tolerant for garden and potted-plant use ([Ball Seed Florida Blue plant information](https://info.ballseed.com/WEBTRACKPLANTINFO.ASPX?PHID=031800568000616&env=P)). The named selection retains its Florida Blue identity; the series is sold as Florida F1.
## Flowers and Use
The blue flowers are held above the compact foliage, making this selection useful in patio pots, mixed containers, and warm-season bedding displays. Ball reports late-spring through late-summer bloom and recommends full sun. Allow room for its listed 6–8 inch spread when planting several together.
## Growing
Start with healthy plugs and avoid chilling or waterlogging the plants. The breeder lists an 8–10 week plug crop and a further 12–16 weeks from transplant to finish. Florida lisianthus is valued for heat tolerance and resistance to rosetting during propagation and after transplanting, but flowering still depends on light, temperature, and growing conditions.
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone evenly supplied with water while allowing excess moisture to drain. Remove spent flowers as needed to keep container plantings tidy, and replace plants when the warm-season display ends.
