About Sapphire Blue Chip Lisianthus

Sapphire Blue Chip is a compact lisianthus grown for its white flowers tipped in azure blue and its naturally branched, tidy habit. This named Sapphire selection suits small containers and seasonal displays where a low, flower-filled plant is useful. ## Container and bloom The breeder lists mature plants at 5–6 inches tall and 4–6 inches wide, with late-spring through late-summer flowering; one plug fits a 4-inch pot, or several can be combined in a larger container. The white flowers tipped in blue are shown in the seed retailer’s cultivar profile. See the [PanAmerican Seed product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/031802981011065/lisianthus-sapphire-blue-chip/) and [Sapphire Blue Chip growing notes](https://www.swallowtailgardenseeds.com/annuals/lisianthus/sapphire-blue-chip-lisianthus-seeds.html). ## Maintenance Place the pot where it receives sun and leave room for air to move around its branches. For seed-grown plants, start pelleted seed in a fine seed-starting mix and avoid covering it; lisianthus seed needs light to germinate. Keep young seedlings gently and evenly moist, then avoid leaving the finished pot waterlogged. The breeder’s crop schedule allows 8–10 weeks for plugs and another 12–16 weeks from transplant to finish.
