About Blue Daze Morning Glory

Blue Daze, a common name for Evolvulus glomeratus, is a low, spreading tender perennial grown for clear blue, white-centered flowers and soft gray-green leaves. In warm climates it can form an informal groundcover; in cooler gardens it works well as a seasonal container plant. The [NC State Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/evolvulus-glomeratus/common-name/blue-daze/) lists a mature height of 9–18 inches and spread of 2–3 feet. ## Landscape Use Plant it near the front of a sunny border, along an edge, or where stems can spill over a container. Its stems can root where they touch soil, so allow room for the mat to widen. ## Growing Conditions Give it full sun and well-drained soil. Keep the soil moist while plants establish, then water when the surface begins to dry; avoid leaving the roots saturated. In colder climates, grow it in a pot that can be moved before frost. ## Seasonal Interest The small funnel-shaped blue flowers open in sun and may close at night or on cloudy days. NC State reports a long bloom from June until frost, covering spring, summer, and fall in suitable climates. ## Maintenance This is a low-maintenance plant. Trim wayward stems when needed and check rooted runners at the edge of a bed. NC State lists it for containers, hanging baskets, borders, and mass planting, and notes that it attracts bees and hummingbirds.
