Snow Day® ‘Blizzard’ pearl-bush (*Exochorda racemosa* ‘Blizzard’) is a deciduous shrub selected for abundant white spring flowers and a compact, upright-to-mounded form. The [North Carolina Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/exochorda-racemosa-snow-day-blizzard/) identifies ‘Blizzard’ as the Snow Day® selection; a [Spring Meadow Nursery breeder listing](https://springmeadownursery.com/plantfinder/snow-day-blizzard-26020) describes its unusually large flowers and use in borders and mixed plantings.
## Form and Season
Pearl-like buds open into large white flowers in early spring, followed by green leaves and small brown capsules. Published mature-size estimates differ: North Carolina Extension gives 3–4 feet in both height and width, while the breeder listing gives 5–6 feet tall and 6–7 feet wide. Plan for a compact shrub with room to broaden as it matures.
## Siting
Plant in full sun or partial shade in average, well-drained soil. The Extension profile notes that established plants tolerate heat and drought, though steady moisture while roots establish supports reliable growth and flowering. Use it as a spring focal point, in a mixed border, or as a flowering accent near a path.
## Maintenance
Flowers form on older growth, so prune soon after spring bloom if shaping is needed. Regular pruning is not required; avoid cutting stems in winter or before flowering.
