About Fignomenal Fig Tree

Fignomenal® is the trade name for the compact fig selection Ficus carica 'PT-DF-14', a dwarf, semi-upright plant suited to a patio container or a small edible garden. It reaches about 28 inches in height and width and bears brown-skinned figs with pink-red flesh; the patent describes fruiting from dormancy break until dormancy, or year-round where plants do not go dormant. [Monrovia](https://www.monrovia.com/fignomenalr-dwarf-fig.html) [U.S. plant patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP32537P2/en) ## Site and Size Give the plant full sun for best fruiting and use a sturdy container with drainage if you need to move it under cover for winter. Its small mature size makes it practical for a deck, balcony, or sunny courtyard. Monrovia lists USDA zones 7–10; container roots may need added winter protection in colder conditions, or the plant can be overwintered indoors. ## Water and Fruit Water deeply when the potting mix becomes dry, then allow excess water to drain. Keep moisture more consistent while the plant is actively growing and fruiting, and reduce watering during cool dormant periods. Figs are edible fresh or cooked; harvest when fruit is fully ripe and softening. ## Maintenance Feed lightly in spring and prune in late winter to remove damaged branches and maintain a compact framework. Check container drainage and root growth periodically, and protect the plant from freezing weather. The plant patent identifies the selection as 'PT-DF-14'; Fignomenal® is its selling name.
