Flying Machine Forsythia

Flying Machine® is a large, deciduous forsythia selection, Forsythia koreana ‘Sunny’, with oversized golden-yellow flowers in early spring. The blooms fall from the branches intact and create a bright carpet beneath the shrub; mature plants reach 5–8 feet tall and 4–6 feet wide. Its bold early flowers are most effective where they can be viewed against a darker background, and the fallen flowers extend the display below the canopy. ## Growing conditions Plant in sun or part shade in average, well-drained soil. Water while the shrub establishes and during prolonged dry weather. Flowering is strongest when the plant receives some direct sun. ## Maintenance Forsythia flowers on old wood, so prune just after flowering if the shape needs correction.
