About Fiesta Forsythia

Fiesta is a compact hybrid forsythia valued for leaves blotched bright lime-yellow and cream as well as its yellow spring flowers. Deep-yellow blooms open in early to mid spring, while the variegated foliage remains after the flowers fade. ## Garden Placement Plant it in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand as suitable soil types. Use Fiesta in a mixed shrub border or informal garden where its foliage pattern can stand apart from solid-green shrubs. ## Size and Season The RHS gives mature height and spread as 1–1.5 m; Wisconsin Extension describes a compact plant about 3–4 ft tall. Allow several feet of room as the shrub matures. Its main flower display comes in early and mid spring, before the new leaves fully develop. Remove damaged or crowded branches selectively and retain the naturally compact outline.
