Create design onlineAbout Lynwood Gold Forsythia
Lynwood Gold forsythia is a fast-growing deciduous shrub valued for its early display of clear yellow flowers on bare branches. This selection reaches about 9 feet in both height and spread, making it useful as a flowering hedge, screen, or informal spring accent.
## Landscape use
The arching branches create a broad outline, so allow room for the shrub to mature instead of placing it where regular shearing is needed. Its bright spring bloom is especially visible against evergreen backgrounds or along a property edge.
## Growing conditions
The Utah State University arboretum lists this selection for USDA Zones 5–8 and notes that it adapts to many soil types and pH levels. Flowers form on older wood; avoid pruning after mid-July if next spring’s bloom is desired. See the [Utah State University Lynwood Gold profile](https://extension.usu.edu/botanicalcenter/trees-of-varga-arboretum/lynwood-gold-forsythia) for selection-specific size and care notes.
## Maintenance
Prune selectively after flowering to remove older stems and maintain a natural shape. Rejuvenation pruning can be done as needed, but routine shearing is unnecessary.
