Create design onlineAbout Cimmzam Green Ash
Cimmaron® green ash is the named selection Fraxinus pennsylvanica ‘Cimmzam’. Its young crown is narrow with upright branches, then broadens toward an oval shape; glossy green leaves turn red, burgundy, and orange in fall, and the selection is seedless.
## Size and siting
Published mature sizes vary: Wisconsin guidance gives about 40–50 ft tall by 30–40 ft wide, while Canberra guidance reports 10–12 m tall by 8–10 m wide. Plan for a large tree and ample soil volume. The [Wisconsin Extension guide](https://barron.extension.wisc.edu/files/2023/02/Selecting-Woody-Landscape-Plants-for-Fall-Color.pdf) and [ACT Government fact sheet](https://www.cityservices.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/1502876/Fraxinus-pennsylvanica-Cimmzam-Cimmaron.pdf) describe its form and site use.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun. The selection tolerates a range of soils; a well-drained site gives roots room to establish. Its strong fall display makes it useful as a shade or specimen tree where its mature canopy fits.
## Maintenance
Allow room for the crown and check local ash pest and disease pressure before planting. Avoid placing it where an eventual broad canopy would crowd buildings or utilities.
