About Winston Churchill™ Fuschia

Fuchsia ‘Winston Churchill’ is a bushy, upright deciduous fuchsia with double flowers: short pink sepals and tube surround bluish-lavender petals marked with pink. The Royal Horticultural Society lists summer-to-autumn flowering, a mature height of 0.5–1 metre, and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metre. [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/92630/fuchsia-winston-churchill-d/details) ## Placement Grow it in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade, in loam that stays moist but drains freely. It can spend summer outdoors; in climates with freezing winters, grow it in a container that can be moved to a cool, frost-free greenhouse. ## Growth The RHS dimensions translate to approximately 1.6–3.3 feet tall and 4–20 inches wide. The RHS hardiness rating is H2 under UK conditions, so it is not a USDA zone rating. Its compact spread makes it suitable for a patio container or the front of a sheltered flower border. ## Maintenance Keep the root ball evenly moist during active growth and remove dead or damaged stems in spring. The RHS lists this cultivar as deciduous and gives pruning group 6 guidance; protect the plant from frost before winter.
