Arizona Sun is a compact blanket flower with upward-facing, red-orange daisies edged in yellow. The long display begins in late spring or early summer and can continue into fall, bringing bright color to sunny borders, containers, and cut-flower plantings. The [Jordan Valley Conservation Garden Park](https://conservationgardenpark.jvwcd.gov/plants/1306/arizona-sun-blanket-flower) identifies the cultivar, describes its heat and drought tolerance, and notes that its seed heads can feed birds; [Burpee](https://www.burpee.com/products/gaillardia-arizona-sun-prod000048?variant=45869539065890) lists full sun, Zones 3–10, and a compact 10-inch height.
## Site and seasonal display
Provide full sun and well-drained soil. This selection tolerates heat, drought, and poorer soil once established, though regular moisture supports growth. Its red and yellow flowers attract pollinators and are useful in informal cut-flower arrangements.
## Growing conditions
Allow roughly a foot of height and a compact spread. Published width estimates vary from about 14 inches to 18–24 inches, so leave a little extra room in a mixed border. It flowers from late spring or early summer into fall, depending on climate.
## Maintenance
Water during establishment, then irrigate deeply but infrequently in well-drained soil. Remove spent flowers to encourage continued bloom. In colder gardens, leave the stems through winter for structure and cut them back in spring as new growth emerges.
