Barbican™ Red is a red-flowering selection of Gaillardia aristata in Syngenta’s Barbican series. Its indeterminate flowering produces a dense, rounded mound with blooms from mid-spring through fall, making it useful for sustained color in sunny perennial beds and larger containers. The [Syngenta product page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70060858) lists the cultivar and product code, full sun, a 14–16-inch height, a 14–18-inch width, and Zones 4a–9a.
## Site and seasonal display
Plant in full sun, leaving about 18 inches for the mature spread. Red flowers open over a long season, and Syngenta describes the series as pollinator friendly. The compact, mounding form works near paths or in the middle of a low perennial border.
## Growing conditions
Use fertile or average garden soil that drains freely. Avoid keeping the root zone persistently wet. The source gives mature dimensions as ranges, so expect natural variation with climate, container size, and growing conditions.
## Maintenance
Water regularly during establishment, then adjust irrigation to weather and drainage. Remove faded flower heads to keep the mound tidy and encourage continued display. In spring, trim away old stems as fresh growth appears.
