About Goblin Blanket Flower

Goblin blanket flower is a compact hybrid perennial with upright stems and red daisy-like rays tipped in yellow. It flowers from early summer into early autumn, bringing warm color to sunny plantings. ## Garden Use At about 12–14 inches tall, Goblin fits the front of a sunny border, a gravel garden, or a container where its vivid flowers can be seen up close. Its familiar blanket-flower colors pair well with grasses and blue- or purple-flowered perennials. ## Growing Conditions Plant it in full sun and well-drained soil; heavy, winter-wet ground can shorten its life. Once established, it tolerates dry conditions. Blanket flowers are often short-lived, so use it where reseeding or occasional replacement is acceptable. ## Maintenance Deadhead faded flowers to keep the clump tidy and encourage continued flowering. After flowering, cut back old stems; avoid leaving the crown in poorly drained soil over winter. [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/114513/gaillardia-kobold/details) lists Goblin among the synonyms for Kobold and describes its red flowers with yellow tips, while [University of Wisconsin Extension](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/blanket-flower-gaillardia-spp/) gives Goblin’s compact size and hardiness.
