About BELLEZA 'Compact Light Pink' Whirling Butterflies

BELLEZA ‘Compact Light Pink’ is a low, compact gaura with light-pink flowers and an especially small, mounding habit within the series. Selecta’s product page gives 12–18 inches tall and 16–20 inches wide, while Wisconsin Extension reports 10–16 inches for this distinct compact form; the catalog range preserves both exact-selection measurements. See the [breeder product details](https://www.darwinperennials.com/Products/Details/?phid=028004335012694) and [Wisconsin Extension’s named-cultivar note](https://mastergardener.extension.wisc.edu/files/2015/12/gaura.pdf). ## Garden placement Use it in a sunny border, container or front-of-bed grouping where its fine stems can move above neighboring plants. Gaura performs best in full sun and well-drained soil; light soils suit it, and clay is tolerated when drainage is good. The plant is also described as a pollinator selection. ## Seasonal display The breeder lists flowering from spring through autumn. Light-pink blooms and a compact mound make this selection useful where a smaller scale is needed than the more upright Belleza forms. ## Maintenance Water enough to establish the taproot, then water sparingly; established gaura tolerates drought. Avoid rich, wet soil, which can encourage loose growth. Deadhead selectively for a tidier appearance and continued flowering, then cut flower spikes back in fall and remove dead foliage in spring.
