New Day® Bright Mixture Gazania

New Day® Bright Mixture is a compact, mounded Gazania rigens for sunny containers and garden beds. PanAmerican Seed describes a blend of Bronze Shades, Yellow, Clear Orange, and Pink Shades, with plants about 8–10 inches tall and 6–8 inches wide. The New Day series is bred for uniform flowering, large blooms, and sturdy plants. ## Siting and soil Grow in full sun and use freely draining soil. Gazanias prefer sandy to average soils and tolerate lean conditions; avoid places that remain wet. Water while young plants establish, then allow the soil to dry between waterings. The breeder notes drought tolerance in the New Day series and recommends the plants for baskets, edging, and groundcover. ## Seasonal color Flowers appear from late spring into summer, giving the mix a long window of warm color. The green foliage and rounded habit make a neat low layer in a container or at the front of a sunny border. Flower heads open in bright conditions and may close at night or on cloudy days. ## Maintenance Remove fading flower heads to encourage continued bloom and keep the mix looking fresh. In containers, make sure excess water can drain away after rain.
