About Kiss Frosty Red African Daisy

‘Kiss™ Frosty Red’ is a compact Gazania rigens with red, daisy-like flowers and the Kiss™ Frosty series’ silver foliage. Its rounded plants grow about 8–10 inches tall and wide, with flowering from late spring into summer in a sunny garden. [Ball Seed](https://info.ballseed.com/PlantInfo/?phid=028102773028063) lists the exact selection’s dimensions and season, while [Syngenta Flowers](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70019469) identifies Frosty Kiss™ as the silver-leaved, heat-loving companion to the Kiss™ series. ## Garden Use Use this small, flowering mound in a sunny container, along a path, or near the front of a warm-season bed. The silver leaves remain a useful contrast between flushes of red blooms. As with other gazanias, flowers may close at night or on very cloudy days. [UF/IFAS](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP225) describes this response and notes that gazanias suit hot, dry garden settings. ## Growing Conditions Give plants full sun and sharply drained soil. Gazanias prefer soil that drains freely; allow the surface to dry between waterings and avoid persistently wet conditions, which can lead to root problems. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gazania-rigens/common-name/gazania/) provides these general culture recommendations for Gazania rigens. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower heads to encourage continued bloom, as recommended by [UF/IFAS](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP225).
