About Kiss Orange African Daisy

Kiss™ Orange is a compact Gazania rigens selected for bright orange, daisy-like flowers above a vigorous mound of foliage. The plants reach about 8–10 inches tall and wide, and flower from late spring through summer in full sun. [Ball Seed’s exact Kiss™ Orange listing](https://info.ballseed.com/PlantInfo/?phid=028102773003789) identifies the taxon, size, season, and exposure. ## Garden Use The compact habit suits pots, the front of a sunny border, and small groups in a warm-season planting. Gazania flower heads often close at night and may remain partly closed during very cloudy weather; [UF/IFAS](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP225) describes this normal response and the genus’s use in hot, dry areas. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun in soil that drains freely. Let the soil dry between waterings and avoid extended wet conditions, especially around the roots. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/gazania-rigens/common-name/gazania/) recommends full sun, well-drained soil, and drying the soil between waterings for Gazania rigens. ## Maintenance Remove faded blooms to encourage more flowers. [UF/IFAS](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP225) notes that removing old blossoms may increase bloom production.
