About Calliope® Crimson Flame Geranium

Calliope® Medium Crimson Flame is an interspecific pelargonium with large, semi-double crimson flowers and a hot-pink reverse. The mounded plant makes a bright seasonal display in containers and garden beds, with a steady flush of flowers from spring into summer. ## Garden use Plan for roughly 14–18 inches of height and a 16–20 inch spread. The red blooms are also suitable for cutting, and the dense habit works well in a pot or along a border. The breeder lists Crimson Flame as product 70048339 in the Calliope Medium series; the series is described as flowering from mid spring through summer. ## Growing conditions Set it in full sun or part sun, with good drainage. Water when the surface of the mix begins to dry, and check containers more often in hot weather. Calliope plants handle heat well; after establishment, they can tolerate drier intervals. [Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/pelargonium/calliope-medium-crimson-flame-geranium-pelargonium-interspecific) gives the variety’s size and seasonal information, and [Armstrong Garden Centers](https://shop.armstronggarden.com/products/geranium-z-calliope-crm-flame) describes its flower coloring and landscape uses. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower stems to encourage further flowering. The plant is generally easy to manage, though container-grown plants need regular checks for moisture during warm, sunny weather.
