About Calliope® Red Dark Geranium

Calliope® Red Dark, also listed by the breeder as Calliope® Dark Red, is a red-flowered interspecific pelargonium. The Canadian plant-rights record identifies its cultivar denomination as 'Amri Trared' and gives Calliope Dark Red as the trade name. ## Garden use The dark red flower heads stand out against green foliage and make a strong seasonal accent in pots, baskets, and sunny beds. The breeder lists the large dark-red type at about 12–16 inches tall. Give it room to branch and let the flowers anchor a container or seasonal planting. ## Growing conditions Grow in full sun or part sun, with at least four hours of direct light and well-drained soil. Water after the surface begins to dry, and check pots more often during hot weather. Once established, Calliope plants tolerate heat and can withstand drier intervals. The [Canadian registry record](https://active.inspection.gc.ca/english/plaveg/pbrpov/cropreport/pel/app00006943e.shtml) documents the cultivar and trade-name link; [Syngenta’s product listing](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/emea/de/product/flower/70004166) gives the dark-red product information. ## Maintenance Remove old flower stems at their base to encourage additional flowering. Keep container plants watered as the mix dries, and avoid standing water around the roots.
