Create design onlineAbout Pinto™ Violet Geranium
Pinto™ Premium Violet is a compact, upright seed geranium selected for early, uniform flowering and large violet blooms on short stems. Its 14–16 inch height and 12–14 inch spread suit sunny containers, window boxes, and front or middle positions in seasonal beds.
## Garden use
The breeder lists this selection as Pelargonium × hortorum F1, an annual crop, and recommends full sun. The upright, well-branched habit works in small pots and mixed plantings; its spring-to-summer flowering helps provide color early in the outdoor season. See the [Syngenta Flowers product profile](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70006956).
## Growing conditions
Plant after frost in a sunny site with fertile, well-drained soil. [Iowa State Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-annual-geraniums) recommends watering beds during dry periods and checking containers more often, since potting mix dries quickly in warm weather. Avoid keeping the roots waterlogged.
## Maintenance
Remove fading flower clusters to keep the plant tidy and encourage further bloom. Containers may need water several times a week during hot, dry weather; let the soil surface begin to dry between waterings. Annual geraniums are frost tender outdoors, so enjoy this selection as seasonal color or bring a healthy container indoors before cold weather.
