About Brookside Hardy Geranium

Geranium ‘Brookside’ is a spreading, floriferous hardy cranesbill with divided foliage and violet-blue flowers marked by pale centers and fine reddish veins. RHS describes flowers that may repeat through summer, while nursery sources report mature sizes around 18–24 inches tall and 24–36 inches wide ([RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/80929/geranium-brookside/details), [SheyWest](https://www.sheywest.com/products/geranium-brookside-1)). It suits borders where its broad, low growth can fill the front of a planting. ## Garden use Grow ‘Brookside’ in full sun or partial shade and moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Use it as a groundcover between taller perennials or near shrubs, leaving room for its spread. The blue-violet flowers and finely cut leaves work well in informal and cottage-style plantings. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and during prolonged dry weather. Remove flowered stems and old leaves to encourage fresh growth; a light trim can also tidy the clump after its main display. Divide established plants in spring when they become crowded.
