About Ballerina Hardy Geranium

Geranium cinereum ‘Ballerina’ is a compact, low-growing cranesbill with deeply divided grey-green leaves and soft pink flowers marked by dark purple veins and eyes. The RHS describes flowers to about 3 cm wide and a plant to 15 cm tall; a North American perennial profile lists a 4–8 inch height and 12–18 inch spread. Give it full sun or partial shade and sharply drained, sandy soil. Its pale flowers with purple veining make a clear contrast against the muted foliage. ## Maintenance Avoid waterlogged soil. If flowering pauses in midsummer, shear the plant back by about half to encourage compact regrowth and possible repeat bloom. Divide established plants in spring when more are needed.
