About Perfect Storm Hardy Geranium

Geranium ‘Perfect Storm’ is a compact, spreading hardy geranium with magenta-pink flowers, dark centers, and velvety gray-green foliage. Flowers begin in late spring and continue into midsummer, above a low plant about 12 inches tall and 20 inches wide ([Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=GERPS)). ## Garden use Use this small selection at the front of a sunny or partly shaded border, along an edge, or in a container where its contrasting flowers and foliage can be seen close up. Its low, spreading form can fill space around taller perennials without creating a tall screen. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun or part shade in moist, well-drained soil. Water new plants regularly, then water during extended dry periods; Walters Gardens notes that established cranesbills tolerate some drought. Too much shade can reduce flowering and make the plant less compact. ## Seasonal interest The flower display overlaps late spring and early summer, with blooms continuing into midsummer. The muted gray-green leaves provide a soft background for the dark-eyed flowers. ## Maintenance Deadhead spent flowers to keep the display tidy. If the foliage becomes ragged near the end of summer, trim it back to encourage fresh growth.
