About Album Hardy Geranium

Album is a white-flowered selection of bloody cranesbill with deeply divided, dark green leaves and a low, spreading habit. Its pure white summer flowers contrast with the foliage, which can color well in autumn. [The RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/92120/geranium-sanguineum-album/details) gives a mature height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metre. ## Garden Use Plant Album at the front of a mixed border, in a rock garden, or as a loose ground cover. The open mound spreads outward rather than forming a tall clump, making it useful beside paths or among low grasses. Its white flowers also work well in cottage and wildlife gardens. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. The [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/92120/geranium-sanguineum-album/details) lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand among suitable soils and advises avoiding waterlogged ground. Spring division is a practical way to propagate or refresh an established planting. ## Maintenance Remove flowered stems and old leaves after flowering to encourage fresh foliage and additional blooms. Cut back only as needed to keep the spreading edge within bounds.
