Create design onlineAbout Bengal™ Orange Gerbera
Bengal™ Orange Gerbera is the orange-flowered *Gerbera jamesonii* selection in Syngenta’s upright Bengal series. The breeder lists it as a seed-raised color variety, with 10–12 inches of garden height and 7–9 inches of width; the series is noted for early, uniform flowering and several flowers at its first flush. ## Garden Use
Its compact size works well in patio containers, window boxes, and the front edge of a sheltered seasonal border. Plant it where the orange blooms stand out against green foliage, or combine it with other Bengal colors for a coordinated pot display. Syngenta lists exposure from part shade through full sun and an upright habit.
## Growing Conditions
Use fertile, well-drained soil or a free-draining container compost. Keep the root zone lightly moist while the plant is growing, letting the compost dry slightly between waterings. Set the crown just above the soil line and avoid water collecting around it. Gerberas are vulnerable to cold and excess winter moisture, so use this plant as seasonal bedding outdoors in colder climates or protect it under cover. ## Maintenance
Remove faded flower stems at their base to keep the display neat and encourage more flowers. Clear damaged leaves and keep the crown open to air. Move container plants to shelter before cold weather.
