About Bengal™ Orange with Eye Gerbera

Bengal™ Orange with Eye Gerbera is Syngenta’s orange *Gerbera jamesonii* selection with a contrasting central eye. The breeder lists this seed-raised Bengal variety at about 10–12 inches tall and 7–9 inches wide, with an upright habit and flowering from mid-spring through summer. [Syngenta Bengal Orange with Eye](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70035514) ## Garden Use The compact plant fits patio pots, window boxes, and the front of a sheltered seasonal border. Its orange petals and contrasting center make it useful as a bright focal plant in a small container or as one color in a mixed planting. Syngenta lists exposures from part shade through full sun and recommends it for potted production. ## Growing Conditions Provide fertile, well-drained soil or a free-draining container mix. Water when the growing medium begins to dry, keeping it lightly moist through active growth without leaving the pot in standing water. Set the crown slightly above the medium to reduce the risk of rot. Gerberas dislike cold and winter wet; in colder climates, grow this selection outdoors seasonally or move the pot under cover. [RHS gerbera guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/gerbera/growing-guide) ## Maintenance Remove finished flower stems at the base so the plant can keep producing a clean display. Clear damaged foliage and keep the crown dry. Shift container plants to shelter before cold weather.
